Even though we are often the agency of last resort, we cannot, and will not accept everyone that seeks our help. We maintain strict criteria for acceptance into one of AAF’s programs. We accept only families that demonstrate a willingness to work for a successful outcome.

Each family completes an extensive questionnaire prior to an interview and evaluation by a program manager. If adopted, the client enters into a written contract.

Acceptance into the program is subject to the following conditions:

The family must consist of at least one parent and one child under 18.

The family must live in Marin County, California.

There must be no evidence of substance abuse for at least six months.

A goal agreement contract must be signed.

The family must be motivated.

Motivation is the key to our program. It is central to our goal of helping families become self-sufficient members of the community. Each family completes an extensive questionnaire and is interviewed and evaluated by one of our program managers. If adopted, the client enters into a written one-year contract. Progress and needs are regularly reviewed and a detailed case management file is maintained.

We are a small agency with limited funds, and thus want to be absolutely certain that your donations to AAF are used wisely.

PROGRAMS

Over the years, AAF has developed a variety of programs that provide a broad range of support to our clients.

By creating an atmosphere of warmth, safety and compassion, AAF helps clients develop self-respect and dignity. The long-term goal is that their lives will be transformed.

The Emergency Assistance Program covers the basics: security deposits, rental assistance, childcare subsidies, car repair and help with food, transportation, and other daily needs.

The Education Support Program provides selected families with long term help for their educational or vocational goals, as well as the basics.
